American Oxygen

Finally facing the decision to design for the four major tournaments, I got on some work around creating a collection, in which each piece would be unique. The garment I am actually making is for the US Open and is inspired by the clean and sleek style of the event.
It is, just like every other piece I designed, based on the leaf as a source of life and energy.

Creating the outfit with the famously American turtleneck, rather than the usual polo collar, the feel of the garments has a dreamy touch that inspires the whole collection.

Having that in mind, as well as studying the movements of athletes over and over again, I created a silhouette much simpler and more elegant than traditional tennis clothing, so that the human body looks gracious and is clear to see on the court.

Optimising the performance with panels on the key areas of the body, where most stretch is required, I made sure that pulling and twisting of the fabric is avoided.
